27 Jan 2026 – 28 Jan 2026 · Makerere University, School of Engineering (CEDAT), Kampala, Uganda
The successful official launch of the SUNRISE project (Sustainable Universities for Renewable Innovation in Solar Energy) was hosted by the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) at Makerere University in Uganda. This Erasmus+ initiative brings together a powerful consortium of African and European partners dedicated to bridging the skills gap in the renewable energy sector. Over two intensive days, leaders from across the globe aligned on a singular vision: modernising solar PV education to empower the next generation of green engineers. We welcomed partner HEIs and organisations from Uganda (Makerere University and Kyambogo University), Kenya (Strathmore University and University of Nairobi), Tanzania (University of Dar es Salam and the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology), Belgium (Thomas More University and ReadLab Brussels), and Greece (University of Patras and University of West Attica).
